Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Broadway Star Christopher Faison delivered his Luther Vandross Tribute to a sold-out crowd at The Palm Cabaret this past Saturday night. Christopher owned the stage in an intimate and glorious performance that thrilled and entertained us all. There was something extraordinary about this veteran of musical theater as he weaved his magic with stories and songs. Also featured in the show were 2 delightful and skilled background singers who grooved to the music along with the audience.
Here and Now, starring award-winning performer Christopher Faison, took us through a series of stories and songs in a 60-minute musical journey through the career of one of the premier singers of our time. Luther Vandross sang about being in love and was nicknamed “The Love Doctor,” by his fans. Christopher grew up listening to Luther and considers him the gold standard in both songwriting and performance.
Heralded by critics as “silken voiced”, “a stage dynamo” and “downright thrilling”, Christopher Faison provided some “powerhouse moments” while performing some of Vandross’ greatest hits, including Never Too Much, Any Love, Dance With My Father, Always and Forever, Superstar and more. The show lovingly took us through the life and music of this timeless entertainer. “Luther had an incredible catalog of music and a fascinating life. His story of love and longing is one I think we can all attest to,” Faison said.
No stranger to the stage, Faison has been entertaining audiences across the globe for over 2 decades, as an award-winning Singer/Actor. His numerous credits include the national touring productions of Hello, Dolly and The Book of Mormon. He has been a featured singer for Royal Caribbean, and has appeared on Broadway in the Lincoln Center Theater Production of My Fair Lady. His regional credits include: Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas), Buddy’s Tavern (Barkeep), Smokey Joe’s Cafe (Ken) and Dreamgirls (Jimmy) to name a few.
