Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Galleria Dante is hosting a very special Meet the Artist Night on Friday, April 4, with an added purpose – raising funds for renowned sculptor Oscar Zamarripa. The event will feature live painting demonstrations from talented artists, offering guests a chance to witness the creative process while supporting an esteemed figure in the art community.
Zamarripa’s sculptures are more than just art – they are deeply personal narratives, capturing moments from his childhood and life experiences. “For me, it is very important not to forget my childhood experiences, so I have recorded them into my sculptures. They are stories that I would like to share with others,” he says.

With a career spanning over 50 years, his work is cherished in collections around the world. A graduate of the Fine Arts School at the University of Guanajuato, he was honored with the prestigious Luis Echeverría Medal for outstanding achievement in sculpture. His dedication to perfection is evident in his tireless work ethic, often sculpting for up to 20 hours a day.
Now, Zamarripa faces a new challenge – a recent medical diagnosis requiring surgery and ongoing treatment. In response, Galleria Dante is offering discounts on artwork to help raise funds for his care. (See his Collection HERE.) As Puerto Vallarta’s largest and most diverse art gallery, representing over 60 artists for more than three decades, Galleria Dante remains a pillar of support for the artistic community.
This Meet the Artist Night is one of only two remaining this season, making it a perfect opportunity to engage with the artists, hear their inspirations, and witness masterpieces in the making. Among the featured artists painting live are Jean Jacques Hudon, Gérald Gallant, Ricardo Sanchez, Marc Galipeau, and glass artist Luc Gauthier. Mosaic artist Julia Swann and sculptor Gustavo Lopez will also be creating on site, while other esteemed artists such as Cherie Sibley, Bill Megrail, and Rom De la Cruz will be in attendance.
Following an evening of artistic immersion, guests can head upstairs to Di Vino Dante for wine and tapas or enjoy an Italian meal at Pizza Joe 2.0 Rooftop Terrace.
Join this special night of art, inspiration, and community, and be part of an effort to support an artist whose work has touched so many.
