Five ‘Keeping Cool’ Summer Activities in Puerto Vallarta

Let’s face it – when summer rolls around in Puerto Vallarta, it gets hotter and more humid, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great things to do. With fewer crowds and more deals, it just may become your favorite season. Here are our top five “keeping cool” summer activities.

Beach Day
Any day is a good day at the beach in Puerto Vallarta and summer is no exception. Feeling the ocean breeze and enjoying the water is a smart way to beat the heat. Mexican schools are out in late July and early August, bringing more families, but the beaches are still less crowded than they are in the winter.

Hotel Day Pass
If your place doesn’t have a pool, or you just want to treat yourself to a relaxing day and a change of scenery, a day pass at a Puerto Vallarta resort may be just what you need. For families, many hotels offer a children’s pool and play area.

Find the AC
If you just really need a break from the humid outdoors, hit up a mall or catch a movie. Puerto Vallarta shopping malls all have a movie theater so you can do both in the same place. Movies are offered in Spanish, English with Spanish subtitles, or dubbed in English, so just check the local listings and sit back and relax in the air-conditioning.

Boat Charter
Whether you’re into fishing, or simply sightseeing and relaxing, spending a few hours on the water is a breezy summer option. There are plenty of charters from which to choose, from pangas to sailboats and larger yachts.

Sightseeing
Booking a private sightseeing tour is fun way to view other areas of the city that you may not have yet discovered from the air-conditioned comfort of a vehicle. Or take a day trip further inland to San Sebastián or Mascota, where the refreshing mountain air will be a welcome treat.
