Mexico City – GoFundMe last week announced its expansion to Mexico, one of the largest economies in Latin America. After six years, this is the company’s first international expansion, making Mexico the 20th country with full support on the GoFundMe platform.
“The launch in our 20th country is a great milestone that will allow people throughout Mexico a safe, easy and powerful way to raise money for the people and causes that matter most to them,” says Tim Cadogan, CEO of GoFundMe. “Each country we’ve ventured into has embraced GoFundMe in unique ways, but there is a common underlying theme shared everywhere: the desire to help each other is a universal human truth.”
Now in Mexico, anyone can create fundraising pages, receive donations, and withdraw the proceeds in Mexican pesos through local banks. This expansion is part of the company’s overall effort to safely provide more help from its global community, which, along with its nonprofit platform, has helped raise more than $30 billion since 2010.
GoFundMe also is experiencing rapid adoption globally, with a 400% increase in donation volume in non-English speaking countries over the past six years.
