Jalisco and Intel Launch Pioneering Semiconductor Training Program

Jalisco and Intel Launch Pioneering Semiconductor Training Program

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco is making strides in technology education with the launch of the Development of Specialized Talent On Site in Semiconductors program. This groundbreaking initiative, a collaboration between the Government of Jalisco, the State Council of Science and Technology of Jalisco (COECYTJAL), and Intel, is the only program of its kind in Mexico.

As part of the Jalisco Tech HubAct public policy, this program is focused on nurturing the next generation of semiconductor experts. Over the course of a year, 71 talented young individuals are receiving in-depth training in semiconductor design, testing, software, platform development, and validation. Beyond technical skills, they are also honing the soft skills essential for success in this rapidly evolving industry.

The program is backed by a significant investment of $27 million pesos, with Intel contributing 56 percent and the State Government providing the remaining 44 percent. This funding will enable the issuance of 300 certifications to participants, positioning them for success in the semiconductor field.

Students from diverse backgrounds, including those in their final years of undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as experienced professionals, were selected from over 2,400 applications received from across Mexico and Latin America. They come from prestigious institutions such as the University of Guadalajara, ITESO, and the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, among others.

The program’s impact is already being felt by participants, who have expressed their gratitude for the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Intel and to understand the importance of Jalisco’s growing tech ecosystem. The program also included a networking event where students connected with leading companies like Bosch, Infineon, Micron, and Foxconn, paving the way for potential employment in the semiconductor sector.

This initiative is not only a milestone for Jalisco but also sets a new standard for talent development in Mexico’s semiconductor industry. The success of this program promises to expand opportunities for more students and companies in future editions, further cementing Jalisco’s role as a hub for technological innovation and specialized talent.
