Jalisco Continues to Lead Job Creation in the Country

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – With 1,363 formal jobs registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute in May, a total of 41,603 new jobs were created in Jalisco in the first 5 months of 2023. This figure is the highest recorded since 1997 for this period, and places the state in second place nationally for job creation year to date.

If a comparison is made between the first five months of 2023 and the first five months of 2022, this year there has been a greater generation of jobs in Jalisco, going from 38,233 in 2022 to 41,603 in the same period of 2023.

So far in the six-year term of Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, that is from November 2018 to May 2023, his work with the General Strategic Coordination of Economic Growth and Development (CGECyDE) and the secretariats that comprise it, in collaboration with the private initiative, has resulted in 182,529 people in Jalisco having formal employment.

In 2022, Jalisco was the national leader in job creation with 82,963 new jobs created and, so far this year, the state continues to be one of Mexico’s top-generators of formal employment.
