Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta has had a significant economic recovery after 2 years in which the pandemic severely affected the tourism industry.
Proof of this is that during June, a record was broken in the number of air operations at the city’s international airport, in addition to the high percentage of hotel occupancy so far.
According to Ludvig Estrada Virgen, director of municipal tourism, the average occupancy for this month will exceed 80%, a figure that has not been seen for years and that speaks of travelers’ preference for the destination.
The official points out that the ‘low season’ (which runs from April to October) has not been felt so strongly this year, since flights have not stopped and national tourists continue to arrive.
In addition, in July the summer vacation period begins and continues through the end of August, so the Puerto Vallarta tourism sector is preparing for the arrival of thousands of national tourists.
In theory, only September, and a part of October, although it is in this month that cruise tourism will be reactivated) will be considered ‘low season’ months.
Puerto Vallarta, he says, is advancing faster than other tourist destinations in the country and the intention is to keep it at the top for years to come.
