Puerto Vallarta witnessed a heartwarming spectacle of unity and commitment on Friday as 233 couples embarked on their married lives together during the annual Collective Weddings. This remarkable turnout, held against the picturesque seaside backdrop, represents the largest celebration of its kind in the past decade, marking a truly significant occasion for the city.
Mayor Luis Munguía, an enthusiastic supporter of the event who also served as a best man, conveyed the municipal government’s strong belief in the fundamental role of love and family. He affirmed the administration’s dedication to fostering a thriving Puerto Vallarta where these newly formed families can flourish.
“This union of love and family inspires us to keep working for a better Puerto Vallarta. We want to see each of these couples thrive in their new chapter,” he said.
Luis Alemán, an official from the Civil Registry, emphasized the campaign’s noble purpose of simplifying the marriage process and ensuring its accessibility to all couples. He highlighted that formalizing their unions not only guarantees their legal rights and responsibilities but also provides a positive model for their children and the wider community.
The event was made even more special with support from the Municipal DIF, led by Claudia Peña, which offered premarital talks as part of the program.
Festivities included a lively mariachi performance, a traditional cake-cutting, a toast to the couples, and gifts for the newlyweds. The couples also had the special opportunity to capture a memorable photograph with Mayor Munguía, all while being serenaded by the uplifting melodies of a traditional mariachi band.
Adding to the campaign’s impact, 49 late marriage registrations and four child recognitions were also successfully processed. Furthermore, the inclusive spirit of the event was evident in the celebration of two same-sex marriages, further highlighting this year’s Collective Weddings as a truly momentous and inclusive occasion for Puerto Vallarta.
