Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Luis Ernesto Munguía González was sworn in as the new municipal president of Puerto Vallarta on Monday morning, marking the beginning of the 2024-2027 City Council. The solemn ceremony took place in the central courtyard of the municipal presidency, attended by civil and military authorities, community leaders, and special guests.
Interim mayor Francisco José Martínez Gil, accompanied by the full outgoing council, expressed gratitude for the support received during his tenure, and wished Munguía and the incoming council success, emphasizing the high hopes that all the people of Puerto Vallarta have for this new municipal government.
In his inaugural address, Munguía pledged to work tirelessly for the city’s revival, vowing to bring Puerto Vallarta “back to its former glory.” He promised to focus on improving public services, boosting tourism development, and ensuring the city shines once again. “We will give our whole hearts to this land, and we will not fail the people who entrusted us with this great honor,” Munguía affirmed.
Later that morning, at a symbolic event on the esplanade of the International Convention Center, Munguía addressed a gathering of citizens, business leaders, and government representatives. “Today marks the beginning of the rebirth of our port, thanks to all of the trust and support that you have given us,” he said.
He acknowledged the challenges facing the city, particularly in its neighborhoods’ streets and public spaces, but expressed confidence in overcoming them. “We have been preparing for this moment for a long time, and we are ready to face the challenges ahead,” he asserted.
Munguía also announced the arrival of a fleet of 9 new garbage collection trucks, generously donated by local businesses, which will help improve city services when the new government officially takes office on October 1.
