Puerto Vallarta Easter Tourism Totals Outperform National Average

Puerto Vallarta concluded the Easter holiday season with remarkable momentum, outperforming national tourism trends and securing its status as a premier coastal destination.

According to Alejandra Cornejo, the head of the Municipal Government’s Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, local lodging establishments reported impressive occupancy rates fluctuating between 75% and 80% during the final week, exceeding the national average of 63.85%, as estimated by the Federal Ministry of Tourism.

Visitor presence remained evident across the destination, with continued activity seen on beaches, in hotels, restaurants, and along popular tourist routes. Service providers reported sustained operations during the final days of the vacation period, supporting continued economic momentum beyond the peak days of Semana Santa.

According to Cornejo, the steady flow of visitors was driven largely by domestic travelers, particularly families taking advantage of the holiday season. This segment played an important role in maintaining tourism demand and supporting local businesses even after the busiest days had passed.

The city’s appeal is expected to remain high as it transitions into a series of high-profile events designed to engage both residents and international tourists.

Beginning April 15, the Vallarta Institute of Culture will launch Puerto Vallarta Art Week 2026, a citywide initiative celebrating local and international creativity. This cultural gathering ensures that the destination’s energy remains high even as the Easter holiday season winds down.

In addition to the arts, the region continues to attract outdoor enthusiasts by hosting the Ultra Trail Mont-Blanc (UTMB) for the fourth time. Scheduled from April 16 to 18, this world-renowned trail running series brings global attention to the area’s diverse natural landscape.

By combining traditional relaxation with specialized sports and cultural programming, Puerto Vallarta continues to solidify its reputation as an active and inviting hub for travelers throughout the month of April.
