Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Board of Directors of the Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta (IAMPV) have been busy throughout the summer, and we have a lot of good news to share, including some exciting new developments that have the Instituto poised for the best high season ever.
Most importantly, it is a great pleasure to announce that we have a new facility for our organization! Many of you know that we have been looking for a place for our students, but you may not have known that the American School partitioned off our orchestra rehearsal space because they needed more classrooms. So, with the loss of orchestral rehearsal space, the search for a new home became all the more urgent.
Maestro Daniel and the Board visited numerous buildings in various degrees of decrepitude keeping their spirits up by planning how the spaces could be renovated to make them habitable and safe for our students, teachers and musicians. They trudged on, trying to keep hopes high while visiting broken down, roof caved-in buildings. But after a few months of this journey, Daniel received a call from CUC with an extraordinary offer. They invited the Instituto to join them at their new campus in town in an unbeatable location!
The evolution of our involvement with CUC story is very long and involved, but IAMPV had been in talks with them for over a year with Daniel and Olinka helping to facilitate the relationship. IAMPV was also recommended to CUC through many contacts and friends in the artistic and cultural community of Puerto Vallarta, like Arturo Dávila, Maria Jose Zorilla, Pat Jamison, and many others. The Director of the Escuela de Gastromomía Estación Gourmet at CUC, Luis Del Sordo, made the final decision. We have so many people to thank for helping to make this a reality.
Conveniently located on the corner of the Libramiento and Calle Francisco Villa, our new campus has ample space for classrooms and rehearsals for The Salty Paws, the orchestra and all of our musical groups. Everything is under one roof. The classrooms are brand new, clean and air conditioned. There is a large parking lot available for parents and orchestra members as well.
It is the perfect location for us. It even offers the possibility of a concert venue in the future. We share the space with the new Escuela De Gastronomia Estación Gourmet. They occupy the classrooms during the mornings and IAMPV holds classes in the afternoon. It is a perfect situation and offers so many opportunities for both organizations to help each other. This is a place that you will all be proud to promote and enjoy.
