The state has solidified its position as a top destination for international travelers, particularly from the United States and Canada. This surge in tourism is a direct result of the Ministry of Tourism’s targeted promotional efforts and strong partnerships with industry leaders.

Puerto Vallarta, the jewel of Jalisco, has experienced significant growth in foreign visitors. In the first half of 2024, the city welcomed over 1.8 million international tourists, reflecting a strong 7.4% increase compared to the previous year. This notable rise showcases Jalisco’s diverse attractions, from its breathtaking beaches and rich cultural heritage to its world-class amenities.

Canadian visitors followed, with 310,910 arrivals, up 4.2% from last year. Together, Americans and Canadians accounted for nearly 96% of foreign visitors.

Additionally, Air Transat will offer an extra frequency on its Montreal-Puerto Vallarta route from February to March 2025. Alaska Airlines is expanding its reach for U.S. travelers with new flights to Puerto Vallarta from New York, Sacramento, Kansas City, and St. Louis in 2025.

Building on its success with traditional markets, Jalisco’s tourism industry is expanding its horizons. The Ministry of Tourism is actively working to attract visitors from emerging destinations, such as the Czech Republic. The upcoming charter flight from Prague to Puerto Vallarta marks a significant milestone in this endeavor, opening up new opportunities for growth.

Additionally, on September 13, Flair Airlines will launch a new route between Guadalajara and Toronto, enhancing Jalisco’s connectivity with Canada.

The Ministry of Tourism remains dedicated to promoting Jalisco’s destinations globally, leveraging the increased flight capacity at Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports, and exploring new markets to ensure the state’s continued growth in international tourism.

Jalisco’s tourism industry is poised for a bright future. With a strong global appeal and ongoing efforts to enhance visitor experiences, the state is well-positioned to attract travelers from around the world. As the state’s reputation as a top destination strengthens, its economic growth and cultural richness will undoubtedly flourish.
