Puerto Vallarta to Revitalize Coapinole with New Linear Park

Puerto Vallarta to Revitalize Coapinole with New Linear Park

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía has renewed his push for the long-awaited Coapinole Linear Park, a key project he first proposed during his campaign. This ambitious initiative aims to breathe new life into the long-neglected Coapinole Lagoon and its surrounding areas.

The plan includes a full restoration of the lagoon, turning it into a clean and welcoming tourist park with upgraded infrastructure. The project will also connect the lagoon to the nearby La Bobadilla Sports Complex via a linear park stretching along 8 de Mayo Street.

With an estimated cost of at least 50 million pesos, already in the planning stages, the park will feature tree-lined paths, a tartan track, benches, playgrounds, lighting, and open spaces designed to encourage exercise and outdoor fun.

The Coapinole Lagoon was once a beloved community spot but has fallen into disuse. Similarly, the La Bobadilla Sports Complex has seen years of neglect. This new development seeks to change that by offering local families and visitors a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable place to gather together.

The project also ties into the larger Colmenas initiative, supported by a 50 million peso investment from Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus. The goal is to expand recreational spaces in less-visited parts of the city and improve quality of life through better public infrastructure.

Construction on the Coapinole Linear Park could begin later this year, with completion expected by mid-2026. Once finished, it will offer a fresh and exciting destination that supports both community wellness and tourism.
