Puerto Vallarta Welcomes 6 Cruise Ship Arrivals in May

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – As the spring season transitions into the warmer months, Puerto Vallarta continues to thrive as a premier destination on the Mexican Pacific coast. Following a bustling April that saw 27 cruise ships dock in the harbor, May offers a more relaxed but steady pace for the local tourism industry.

This month, the city will welcome a total of six vessels, bringing the cumulative total for the year to 83 arrivals.

The month’s maritime schedule began on May 2nd with the Serenade of the Seas. This Royal Caribbean ship, stretching 294 meters in length, brought approximately 2,110 guests to explore the city’s renowned hospitality. This initial visit set a positive tone for the weeks ahead, reinforcing the region’s status as a key player in international cruise routes even as the peak season begins to wind down.

The second week of May features the arrival of the Norwegian Joy, one of the larger ships scheduled for the month. At 333 meters long and capable of carrying up to 3,804 passengers, the ship is expected to dock at Pier 1 at 6:00 am on Thursday, May 7th. Its early morning arrival ensures that travelers have a full day to contribute to the local economy and enjoy the diverse cultural experiences the city provides.

Mid-month activity picks up with the first of two double arrivals, highlight for the port’s logistics teams and local vendors. On Tuesday, May 12th, the Navigator of the Seas is scheduled to reach Pier 2 at 7:00 am. It will soon be joined by the Carnival Panorama, which is expected to dock at Pier 3 by 8:50 am. Both vessels measure roughly 323 meters and have the capacity to bring a combined total of over 8,000 visitors to the shores of Jalisco in a single day.

After a quiet fourth week, the month concludes with a repeat of this impressive double arrival. On Tuesday, May 26th, both the Navigator of the Seas and the Carnival Panorama will return to their respective piers at the same scheduled times.

These final visits for the month provide a significant boost to the community before the summer low period, which typically runs from June through September. Even with the seasonal shift in frequency, the presence of these grand vessels underscores Puerto Vallarta’s enduring appeal and the vital role it plays in the regional economy.
