Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Residents of the San Miguel neighborhood gathered recently to celebrate a dual milestone for local infrastructure: the opening of the Enchanted TukiBosque and the official launch of a new Mobile Veterinary Unit. These initiatives represent a significant step forward in the city’s ongoing efforts to revitalize public areas and enhance community services for both people and animals.
The transformation of a previously neglected lot into the Enchanted TukiBosque provides families with a secure environment designed for recreation and social connection. This newly rehabilitated park is equipped with modern lighting, diverse play structures for children, and comfortable seating areas for relaxation. With this addition, the municipality now hosts ten Tukiparks, each created to support the healthy development and well-being of the youth in Puerto Vallarta.
The afternoon also marked the debut of a specialized Mobile Veterinary Unit, a project designed to bring essential animal health services directly into the city’s many neighborhoods. This unit is tasked with providing free sterilizations, rabies vaccinations, and general wellness checks for pets and stray animals alike. By making these services accessible, the program aims to improve the quality of life for domestic animals while supporting the public health of the entire region.
Director of Animal Welfare Citlalit Peña Dueñas noted that the mobile clinic is also intended to assist independent rescuers who dedicate their time to caring for the local stray population. The program will operate through rotating neighborhood campaigns, with the schedule and registration requirements posted in advance on official social media channels. Current plans allow for approximately 25 sterilizations per day in each location, with the goal of eventually visiting every neighborhood in the municipality.
Mayor Luis Munguía concluded the event by touring the new facilities and meeting with residents. He emphasized that reclaiming public spaces and expanding animal welfare are core components of the city’s strategy to foster a stronger, more connected community. The inauguration concluded with a sense of optimism as the San Miguel neighborhood enjoyed its new park and the arrival of improved care for their local pets.
