Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for a morning of athletic achievement and environmental awareness as SEAPAL Vallarta officially opens registration for the 2026 Half Marathon and 5K Race. This annual tradition celebrates World Water Day by bringing together community members and visiting athletes to highlight the importance of water conservation through physical fitness.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, with the first group of runners departing at 7:00 am. Participants will gather at the “Agustín Flores Contreras” Municipal Sports Complex on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue, which serves as both the starting point and the finish line for the competition.
Athletes of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, with organizers offering both a challenging 21-kilometer half marathon and a more accessible 5-kilometer course. Both distances feature men’s and women’s categories, ensuring a fair and inclusive environment for everyone from professional long-distance runners to local families looking to stay active.
To encourage early participation, SEAPAL has introduced a tiered pricing structure that rewards those who sign up ahead of time. Runners who register by January 31st can take advantage of a $350 pre-sale rate. The fee increases to $400 throughout February and settles at $450 during the month of March. Each registration includes a comprehensive runner’s kit featuring a commemorative t-shirt, an official race number, and a medal to mark the accomplishment.
Securing a spot in the race is straightforward, with registration available at several SEAPAL Vallarta locations. Interested participants can visit the main offices in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood or satellite offices in El Pitillal Centro, Ixtapa, and Coapinole between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Preparation for race day continues during the distribution of the runner’s kits, which will take place on Friday, March 20th, at the main SEAPAL offices and on Saturday, March 21st, at La Isla Shopping Village. This final step sets the stage for a successful event that blends the spirit of competition with a meaningful message about protecting our planet’s most vital resource.
