SEAPAL Vallarta Strengthens Services for Semana Santa

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – To ensure reliable water and sanitation services during one of the busiest vacation periods of the year, SEAPAL Vallarta has launched its Semana Santa 2026 Operational Program, designed to maintain consistent service across the city through preventative measures and rapid response actions.

The program, led by SEAPAL Vallarta Director Carlos Ruiz, focuses on maintaining the supply of drinking water, drainage, and sanitation services as visitor numbers increase. This period is especially important for the city, as dependable public services help support tourism activity and contribute to the local economy, benefiting families and businesses throughout Puerto Vallarta.

From April 1 through April 6, the utility will operate under enhanced conditions, providing continuous 24-hour coverage. On-call technicians and customer service teams will remain available at all times, while specialized operational units will be deployed across the city to address incidents quickly and effectively.

Key actions include the sectorization of water systems and pressure control in high-demand areas, along with reinforced monitoring and chlorination to maintain water quality. Preventative dredging and cleaning will also take place at critical points within the sanitary sewer network to reduce the risk of blockages.

In addition, SEAPAL will maintain constant surveillance at treatment plants, wells, pumping stations, and sewer lines. These measures are intended to ensure the uninterrupted operation of essential infrastructure throughout the holiday period.

Areas expected to experience the highest demand include the tourist zone, downtown Puerto Vallarta, Marina Vallarta, the Romantic Zone, and densely populated neighborhoods in the El Pitillal district.

The operational strategy is built on five core pillars: drinking water, drainage, sanitation, customer service, and inter-institutional coordination. This integrated approach allows the agency to prevent service disruptions, respond rapidly to emergencies, and maintain clear communication with residents and visitors.

Preventative sanitation efforts have also been strengthened to reduce the likelihood of spills or system failures. Crews are actively cleaning sanitary infrastructure and monitoring critical areas, while treatment plants will remain fully operational with staff on duty and contingency protocols in place to address potential electrical interruptions.

Through these coordinated efforts, SEAPAL Vallarta aims to provide dependable services during Semana Santa, helping ensure that both residents and visitors enjoy a safe and comfortable stay during one of the city’s most important tourism seasons.
