Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The fabulous David Duvall delivered an entertaining show in February, celebrating singer/songwriters Rodgers & Hart at The Casa Karma Red Room. David’s once-a-month concerts celebrate various popular composers and songwriting teams who have contributed to the Great American Songbook. The next monthly shows happen on Sundays, March 17, April 21 & May 19 at 2 pm.
To a full and appreciative audience in February, David and his jazz trio, along with guest artists Kami Desilets, Gene Berube and Robert Ryan, presented a fabulous tribute to the music of Rodgers & Hart. The show included background photos, wonderful song interpretations and a fascinating historical perspective on the music.
Rodgers and Hart were an American songwriting partnership between composer Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and the lyricist Lorenz Hart (1895–1943). Know affectionately as Larry and Dick, they worked together on 28 stage musicals and more than 500 songs from 1919 until Hart’s death in 1943.
During this wonderful tribute to Rodgers & Hart, we heard thrilling interpretations from David and his musicians of Blue Moon, Manhattan Melodrama, My Funny Valentine, Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered and many more!
David Duvall is a gifted pianist, singer and music historian who captivated the interest and attention of his audience. He performed in theaters, cabarets and clubs across the U.S. before moving to Puerto Vallarta.
David has a real knack for describing the back stories and history of the music that he presents. His clear, rich voice perfectly channels the melodies and lyrics of some of music’s greatest composers. He is also considered a great interpreter of Cole Porter’s lyrics.
With 45 years of experience singing, arranging, studying and interpreting the works of some of music’s greatest writers, David provides incredible insight into the music he shares with his audience. His backstories and grasp of music history is both educational and entertaining and make him a fascinating communicator of the music that he shares.
