The Living Room Bookstore Opens 2nd Location in 5 de Diciembre

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Living Room Bookstore & Café, the Marina Vallarta favorite for book lovers, coffee aficionados, and shopping enthusiasts, is proud to announce the opening of its second location — this time in the heart of 5 de Diciembre.

Since reopening in the Marina last year, The Living Room has built a loyal following of locals, expats, and visitors who come for the coffee and books but stay for the community focused events (and the A/C). The new 5D outpost keeps that same relaxed, bookish charm while adding a few surprises — including a leafy garden patio, and a growing calendar of art workshops, live music, author talks, and community events.

Owner Madeline Milne says the expansion was a natural next step: “People kept asking when we’d open another one – and I couldn’t pass up this location. The space is gorgeous.” Both cafés are designed as spaces where people can slow down, cool off, and maybe even finish that book they’ve been meaning to read.

Beyond books, The Living Room stocks a curated mix of locally made gifts, literary-themed merchandise, gifts you didn’t know you need and Mexican coffee roasted right here in Vallarta. It’s also home to book clubs, writing groups, and Spanish conversation circles, with regular collaborations supporting local artists and the International Friendship Club (IFC).

Both locations are fully air-conditioned — a small but essential detail that every Vallarta local can appreciate — and each has its own personality. The Marina spot sits just behind the lighthouse, perfect for a post-walk coffee. The 5 de Diciembre location, with its yellow-striped awnings and secret-garden vibe, invites you to linger a little longer.
