Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Discount supermarket chain Tiendas Bara has announced its arrival in Puerto Vallarta with an initial investment of 400 million pesos over the next three years, bringing hundreds of new jobs and expanded grocery options to local neighborhoods.
The project, backed by the administration of Mayor Luis Munguía, is expected to create between 600 and 700 direct jobs as the company establishes stores across several areas of the city.
Mayor Munguía welcomed the investment and said the expansion will help improve access to basic food products and household essentials for many families. He noted that residents in some neighborhoods currently travel long distances to shop for groceries, and the new stores will provide more convenient options closer to home.
According to Gabriel Baldini, the chain plans to open stores in areas including El Pitillal, Las Juntas, La Aurora, and neighborhoods near Ramblases. The stores will range from 400 to 500 square meters and will include parking, security monitoring systems, and modern infrastructure designed to provide a comfortable shopping experience while maintaining affordable prices.
Baldini explained that Vallarta was selected because of its continued growth and strong economic and social development. He added that the company sees an opportunity to bring more accessible retail options directly into local communities while supporting the city’s expanding population.
The executive also emphasized that the hiring model will prioritize local workers, with a special focus on creating employment opportunities for women in the community.
Mayor Munguía reiterated that his administration remains open to investments that encourage economic growth, job creation, and new opportunities for residents. He said projects such as Tiendas Bara help strengthen the local economy while contributing to a more prosperous future for Puerto Vallarta.
