Upcoming IAMPV Concerts That You Won’t Want to Miss

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta), a non-profit organization that provides musical education to children and young adults, and serves as an umbrella organization for the Vallarta Symphony Orchestra and the Salty Paws Jazz Orchestra, has three upcoming performances this month that you won’t want to miss!

The OSV – Orquesta Sinfonica Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta’s community orchestra – will give two “GREAT SYMPHONIES” concert performances, one in Vallarta and one in Nuevo Vallarta, this coming Sunday and Monday:

The Sunday, March 27, 2022 performance (7 pm) will be OUTDOORS at Estacion Gourmet UdeG, the Gourmet Station on Francisco Villa, 1 block from the longest traffic light in Vallarta – it’s on the Libramiento (corner of Francisco Villa). Turn onto Francisco Villa and go towards Costco about 1 block and Gourmet Station will be the red brick building on your right. (See Google Map)

However, for definitely SUPERIOR LISTENING EXPERIENCE, the Monday, March 28, 2022 (7 pm) performance is the way to go – in Paradise Village/Nuevo Vallarta, at the Salon Paraiso/Harkness Institute, Paseo de Los Cocoteros #13. The acoustics are superlative and the room is really elegant and beautiful. (See Google Map)

The program will consist of selections from Beethoven’s Symphony #7, Brahms’ 4th, Haydn’s “Military” Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Reformation Symphony, Mozart’s Linz Symphony, Tchaikovsky’s 2nd, plus Respighi’s Ancient Aires and Dances, Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours, Handel’s Overture to Royal Fireworks Music, and the Grand March from Wagner’s Tannhauser.

A Concert for One of our Own

After giving several concerts this season to benefit various Puerto Vallarta charities, the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra will present a fundraiser jazz performance this Thursday, March 24, 7 pm to raise money for one of our musicians in need of a prosthetic leg, Felipe Flores. He plays trombone and keyboards and gives classes in piano and painting.

This Thursday, 24 March 2022 at 7 pm the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra will give a benefit concert at Biblioteca Los Mangos, the Los Mangos Library located on Francisco Villa #1001, Puerto Vallarta – just a few blocks from the Fluvial turnoff to La Comer and Costco.

Uptown Funk, Rock Around the Clock, Herbie Hancock’s Chameleon, Billy Joel’s It’s Still Rock n Roll to Me, New Orleans vibe The Preacher, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and more favorite tunes will be featured.

Donations of 200 pesos will make a big difference and will be deeply appreciated by Felipe and the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra, who are volunteering their time for their friend and fellow musician.

If you cannot attend, but would like to contribute, Felipe Alfonso Flores can be reached on Facebook at @FeliPiano, 322-117-5323 and femisantos_64(at)hotmail.com.
