Vallarta Welcomed Nearly 240,000 Cruise Passengers in 4 Months

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In the first four months of this year, Puerto Vallarta’s bustling port welcomed nearly 240,000 passengers from 81 international cruises. Despite this impressive number, it falls short compared to the same period last year, which saw over 258,000 passengers arriving on 94 ships, as reported by the Administration of the National Port System (ASIPONA).

It’s important to remember that Puerto Vallarta’s cruise season thrives from the start of the year until April, with a natural lull in May before picking up steam again in October.

In May, the port will host a total of 10 cruise ships, projecting nearly 39,000 passengers, a slight dip from last year’s 41,000 visitors. This reduction underscores the seasonal ebb and flow of cruise tourism in Puerto Vallarta.

The detailed passenger numbers for the first four months highlight the port’s busy schedule: January saw 72,889 passengers from 30 ships, February had 49,463 passengers from 13 ships, March welcomed 54,924 passengers from 15 ships, and April recorded 61,195 passengers from 23 ships.

Considering an average spend of $120 per passenger on port taxes, dining, shopping, excursions and various services, these cruise ship visitors are estimated to have contributed approximately $28.6 million USD to the local economy.
