VidantaWorld Mexico Open Moves to Fall for 2026 PGA TOUR

Riviera Nayarit – The VidantaWorld Mexico Open is moving to the fall, marking a new chapter for the PGA TOUR event as it returns October 29–November 1, 2026. Set during one of Mexico’s most celebrated seasons, the tournament combines elite championship golf with a destination experience designed to elevate its place on the TOUR calendar.

The new dates align the event with Día de Muertos, giving players and fans the chance to experience PGA TOUR competition alongside one of Mexico’s most meaningful cultural traditions. While the celebration enhances the atmosphere, the focus remains firmly on the competition, with a 132-player field battling for 500 FedExCup points and a share of a $4 million purse.

Hosted at VidantaWorld, the tournament unfolds within a 2,500-acre oceanfront resort featuring championship golf, expansive beachfront, award-winning spas, headline entertainment, and elevated dining. This setting allows the event to function as both a premier sporting contest and a full-scale travel destination.

Adding to the appeal is the opening of BON Luxury Theme Park, the world’s first luxury-focused theme park, scheduled to debut ahead of tournament week. Designed as a low-density, hospitality-forward experience, BON introduces new entertainment options that complement the tournament without overshadowing the play on the course.

The destination is further enhanced by Cirque du Soleil LÚDO, a permanent aquatic dinner show that blends acrobatics, storytelling, and fine dining in a custom-built theater, offering another signature experience during championship week.

“Our goal is to deliver a tournament that meets the highest competitive standards while offering an environment that reflects where the modern PGA TOUR is headed,” said Iván Chávez, executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta.

Since joining the PGA TOUR schedule in 2022, the Mexico Open has helped spotlight Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit as international travel destinations, reaching viewers in more than 200 countries through global broadcasts. Coverage of the 2026 VidantaWorld Mexico Open will air on Golf Channel, NBC, and the PGA TOUR World Feed.
