YOFC Inaugurates New Manufacturing Facility in Jalisco, Mexico

Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC), a leading global supplier of optical fiber and cables, has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico.

The 19,515 square meter factory represents a $19 million USD investment and is dedicated to serving Mexico’s telecommunications industry with high-quality optical fiber products. The facility is expected to create over 200 jobs within the next two years.

This marks YOFC’s first manufacturing presence in Mexico and a significant step in its global expansion strategy. Previously established sales offices in Mexico will be complemented by the Lagos de Moreno factory, which will primarily target the domestic market. YOFC also aims to leverage this base to reach the broader North and Latin American regions, solidifying its global leadership position.

A major player in the optical communication industry, YOFC offers a comprehensive suite of fiber optic products for communication network construction. The company boasts a global network of production facilities and subsidiaries, fostering innovation through strategic partnerships with international communication companies and universities.

Jalisco’s Secretary of Economic Development, Roberto Arechederra, views YOFC’s new factory as a milestone achievement. He believes it strengthens Jalisco’s position as a nearshore outsourcing hub, particularly within the high-tech sector. Jalisco’s strong performance in attracting foreign direct investment is further bolstered by YOFC’s presence.

With foreign investment in Jalisco exceeding $593 million USD in the first quarter of 2024, the state ranks ninth nationally. This data aligns with Mexico’s record-breaking national foreign direct investment of over $20.3 billion USD in the same period, signifying a robust economic climate.
