Aeromexico to Fly from Felipe Ángeles International Airport to PVR

Mexico City – Two weeks into the inauguration of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) in Mexico City, Grupo Aeromexico has made a few arrangements to its daily schedule by adding a third route. Here is a look at the addition.

The newest route

On Friday, Aeromexico announced the launch of a new route from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico City to the leisure destination of Puerto Vallarta (PVR).

The NLU-PVR route is the third added by Aeromexico from Mexico City’s new airport. The airline already services Villahermosa (VSA) and Mérida (MID).

After less than three years of construction, the Felipe Ángeles Airport opened its doors on March 21. It began with six daily domestic flights from three Mexican airlines and one international service on Mondays by Venezuela’s Conviasa.

Volaris currently flies daily to Cancun (CUN) and Tijuana (TIJ) and Viva Aerobus serves Guadalajara (GDL) and Monterrey (MTY). Simple Flying visited the airport last week.

Aeromexico adjusts capacity

Two weeks into the operation at the new airport, Aeromexico has decided to adjust its capacity.

While the Mexican airline launched a new route, it didn’t add new daily seats offered at the airport. Instead, it dropped the route to Villahermosa, reducing from seven weekly flights to three and operating the newest route to Puerto Vallarta four times per week.

The route to Puerto Vallarta will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting on May 1; meanwhile, the route to Villahermosa will only be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The route to Mérida will remain without changes.

Aeromexico will deploy its Embraer E190 on these routes, with a capacity for 99 passengers.

The Mexican carrier also serves these routes from Mexico City International Airport (MEX), with 67 flights scheduled to Mérida in May, 42 to Puerto Vallarta, and 40 to Villahermosa. Overall, Aeromexico will deploy over 223,000 seats to these three destinations from MEX and NLU.
