Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – According to official figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SNSP), the total crime rate in Puerto Vallarta decreased 27.1% from January to May 2022, compared to the same period in 2018; These advances are associated with the downward behavior of special crimes that are monitored throughout the state, as a result of the security strategy implemented throughout Jalisco.
The foregoing is reflected in numbers from the latest SNSP report, which also highlights a 31.8 percent reduction in the theft of private vehicles, 77.4 percent in business robberies, 63.3% in home robberies, 59.7 theft from people, 43.6% in motorcycle theft, and 47.2 percent in extortion.
Another important advance in Puerto Vallarta is that in the comparative period, 50 percent fewer femicides and 25 percent fewer intentional homicides were recorded, which reflects the effectiveness of the state strategy, the coordinated work with the three levels of government and the strategy to prevent gender-based violence.
The indicators were presented by the Governor of the State, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, at the end of the security meeting held at the facilities of the 8th Naval Zone in Puerto Vallarta. There, the governor reiterated that, although much remains to be done, the strategy that is applied to ensure our city is a safe destination is giving positive results.
He added that the progress Puerto Vallarta has made in terms of security is proven by the growing economic and tourist activity that the port has seen after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, Enrique Alfaro said that progress is possible due to the support of the National Guard and particularly the Mexican Navy.
