Puerto Vallarta Gears Up for Busy Long Weekend in March

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta anticipates a surge in tourism during the upcoming long weekend in Mexico from March 15 to 18, which celebrates Benito Juárez’s birthday. Hotel occupancy is projected to be the highest in the country’s beach destinations at 84.5%.

Events to Attract Visitors:

Sabor en Competencia Cooking Contest: Renowned chefs from Puerto Vallarta will compete in a public event at 6:00 pm on March 15th at Parque Hidalgo. They will prepare dishes using locally sourced ingredients within an hour. Admission and food tasting are free.

Coconutz Puerto Vallarta 2024: The city will host the first Mexican tournament of the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) World Tour series. Free admission will be available for all matches held at Parque Parota from March 14th to 17th.

11th ACIR Athletic Race: Runners can participate in the 5K recreational or 10K competitive race categories on March 17th. The race starts and finishes at the “Agustín Flores Contreras” Sports Unit. Registration is free via email.

Tourism Boost Expected:

Puerto Vallarta expects a 10% increase in tourist spending on services compared to last March. This is partly due to Holy Week falling at the end of March this year, compared to April in 2023.

“Puerto Vallarta’s natural beauty and diverse events continue to attract national and international tourists seeking fun and entertainment beyond sun and sand,” said Luis Villaseñor, director of the city’s tourism promotion office. The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, along with the state government, actively promotes culinary, sporting, and other events to enhance the destination’s appeal for both residents and visitors.
