Puerto Vallarta Tourism Generated Over USB in First Half of 2024

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – During the first half of 2024, Puerto Vallarta generated an estimated 20,956,000 pesos (approx. $1,114,398 USD), according to the Government of Jalisco. This success is attributed to the state’s tourism promotion strategies, which have elevated Jalisco’s beach, city, and Magical Town destinations on both national and international levels.

From January to June 2024, Puerto Vallarta welcomed approximately 3 million visitors, achieving an average hotel occupancy rate of 75%. This is part of a broader trend across Jalisco, where tourism has seen significant growth. The state reported a total economic impact of 37,687,000 pesos (approx. 2,002,762 USD) during this period, a 14.1% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2019, when the impact was 33,000,000 pesos.

Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Jalisco’s Tourism Secretary, credited the success to the state’s promotional strategies. “These results are a reflection of the hard work that has been done to promote Jalisco’s destinations, so we now have indicators that are much higher than those of 2019 and we hope that this year-end will be even better thanks to the opening of new flights that will connect our destinations with the United States, Canada and the Czech Republic,” she said.

Statewide, Jalisco reported an average hotel occupancy rate of 57%, with the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area at 52% and Puerto Vallarta leading with 75%. As of June 2024, Jalisco had 82,216 hotel rooms across 2,742 lodging accommodations, including hotels, cabins, villas, houses and apartments with hotel services.

The promotional actions of the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat through its trusts (Puerto Vallarta, Municipalities of the Interior, Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara and Costalegre) strengthened the interest of tourists, tour operators, travel agencies and airlines in the destinations of the state.

Puerto Vallarta, in particular, has emerged as one of the top destinations in the country in terms of hotel occupancy.
