Alfaro Retires from Politics; Lemus Begins Ambitious Tenure in Jalisco

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – As Enrique Alfaro Ramírez concluded his tenure as governor of Jalisco on December 5, he announced his formal retirement from politics, emphasizing a shift toward personal aspirations and family life.

“I no longer have any political activities; I am retired from politics,” Alfaro stated. “At 51, my dream is to become the coach of Chivas, to be a good dad, and to embark on a new professional project.” He hinted at taking a sabbatical year abroad and expressed a desire to settle in Tapalpa, where he may even consider a return to municipal leadership in the future.

In his final remarks, Alfaro thanked the people of Jalisco for their trust and reiterated his dedication to their well-being throughout his administration.

The governorship passed to Pablo Lemus on December 6, marked by an inaugural speech at the iconic Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara. Lemus laid out ambitious plans to modernize public transportation across Jalisco’s 125 municipalities, prioritizing sustainability and comfort.

A key highlight of Lemus’s vision is the implementation of an electromobility system. He detailed plans for electric buses in Puerto Vallarta, running from the Nayarit border to the city’s historic center along Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue. These buses will feature air conditioning, benefiting both tourism workers and visitors.

Similar initiatives are set for the Ciénega Region, encompassing municipalities like Ocotlán, Poncitlán, and Jamay. “Every resident of Jalisco deserves a reliable and dignified transportation network,” Lemus affirmed, signaling his commitment to enhancing mobility for all.

The transition in leadership reflects a promising new chapter for Jalisco, as Alfaro steps away from the political arena, and Lemus takes the helm with bold projects to benefit the state’s residents and visitors alike.
