Puerto Vallarta Music Community Rallies to Support IAMPV Teacher

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta (IAMPV), a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing music education to young people across the region, is calling on the community to support one of its own. Angel Romero, a cherished teacher and musician who began as a student at IAMPV, recently lost everything in a tragic apartment fire. She is currently hospitalized with burn injuries and undergoing treatment.

Angel has touched countless lives as a dedicated educator and a talented performer in both the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra and the Vallarta Symphony Orchestra. Her journey from student to teacher is a testament to IAMPV’s mission: changing lives through music. Now, the organization invites the community to come together to help Angel on her path to healing and rebuilding. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by her family to raise funds for her recovery. To contribute, please visit Angel’s Recovery Fundraiser.

“We are thankful she survived,” wrote her mother, Veronica. “Angel is a beautiful human being – loving, hardworking, and talented. We are grateful for all who have supported us so far.”

Founded to bring the joy of music to children and young adults, IAMPV currently serves nearly 70 students at two locations. With instruction spanning various instruments and styles, the organization continues to expand its reach. One shining example is conductor Aquiles Morales, whose Mexico City choir, Poder Coral, recently performed You Can Make It alongside superstar Will Smith – a proud moment for the entire IAMPV family. Upcoming Concerts and Opportunities to Get Involved

IAMPV also looks forward to its upcoming concerts on June 28 and 29, featuring Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G Minor, von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto, and Miniatures Algériennes by Salim Dada. These performances are part of the orchestra’s ongoing efforts to present exceptional music to the community. Stay tuned for more information.

The organization is actively recruiting both music teachers and orchestra members. Interested candidates can send their CVs to andreavaleria.vallejo(at)gmail.com. The orchestra has openings for brass, violins, violas, cellos, bass, and percussion players. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings at the Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUC). For more information, email iampvinfo(at)gmail.com.

As IAMPV continues to grow, it also faces a pressing need for a permanent home. The organization currently stores instruments and equipment across multiple locations, and some lessons are held outdoors or online. They are seeking a dedicated rehearsal and teaching space with storage, accessibility, and room for large ensembles and choir rehearsals. Donations of cash, instruments, sound equipment, and even transportation vehicles are greatly appreciated.

Every peso makes a difference. A donation of just 10,000 pesos can fund 25 music lessons for a young student. Contributions can be made at IAMPV Donations.

You can also support IAMPV through eco-friendly shopping. DejaNew consignment shop, located at Venustiano Carranza 450 in Zona Romantica, donates the proceeds of items sold on behalf of IAMPV. Just mention the organization when you drop off gently used clothing and accessories.
