Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Visitors to Puerto Vallarta can look forward to an enhanced beach experience as the city proudly announces it will be home to four international Blue Flag distinctions for the 2025–2026 season. This esteemed certification, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in Mexico, signifies a commitment to exceptional standards in environmental care, safety, cleanliness, and accessibility.
The revalidation of the Blue Flag at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, the Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta, and the Sheraton Buganvilias highlights their ongoing dedication to maintaining high-quality coastal environments. Adding to this recognition, Camarones Beach will see its Blue Flag restored, marking a renewed commitment to excellence.
The upcoming Blue Flag certification for Camarones Beach is particularly noteworthy. This achievement follows the successful White Flag certification granted to Playa de Oro on April 9, 2025. Councilman Bravo Carbajal shared that significant efforts have been underway at Camarones Beach for several months to meet the rigorous criteria for Blue Flag status. This extensive work included meticulous sampling and assessments, which began four months ago, ensuring all necessary characteristics were met.
Rebeca Sánchez, Sustainable Management Manager at FEE Mexico, confirmed that preparations are underway for the official flag-raising ceremony in Puerto Vallarta, which will take place soon.
The Blue Flag is a globally recognized eco-label awarded to beaches and vessels that demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental protection and high-quality tourism services. To earn this distinction, locations must meet 33 stringent criteria across four key categories: Environmental Education, Water Quality, Environmental Management, and Safety and Services. This achievement underscores Puerto Vallarta’s dedication to providing outstanding and sustainable coastal destinations for all to enjoy.
