Puerto Vallarta Forms Historic Center Citizen Council

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – A new step in preserving Puerto Vallarta’s heritage was taken with the formation of the Historic Center Citizen Council. This new citizen participation body is set to play a pivotal role in protecting and promoting the city’s invaluable heritage.

Mayor Luis Munguía presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the council members, underscoring the municipality’s dedication to this crucial initiative. José de Jesús Palacios Bernal has been appointed to chair the council, bringing his leadership to this important endeavor. Supporting him will be Rosa Jazmín Rosas Flores as secretary of minutes and Alejandra Cornejo, Director of Economic Promotion and Tourism, as secretary of the advisory committee.

The council is comprised of a diverse group of esteemed community members. This includes influential representatives from the business sector, skilled architects and engineers, and dedicated City Council members. This collaborative team will work collectively to ensure the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of the historic center.

During the installation, Mayor Munguía highlighted ongoing efforts to improve and beautify the historic center, specifically mentioning the current rehabilitation of the Malecón.

He also thanked the federal government, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus, and Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman, for their continued support. Planned initiatives include restoration projects in the historic center and other key developments within the municipality, such as the Mismaloya pier and the Las Juntas highway interchange.

The formation of this council signifies a renewed commitment to preserving the unique charm and historical essence of Puerto Vallarta for generations to come.
