New Streets Bring Social Justice to Puerto Vallarta Neighborhood

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – After more than two decades of waiting, residents of Lomas del Coapinole are celebrating the inauguration of new streets, a project they say marks a new era of social justice for the neighborhood. Mayor Luis Munguía led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly paved Italia and 8 de Mayo streets, declaring the project a testament to “good government delivering” on its promises to historically overlooked communities.

For years, Lomas del Coapinole was among several neighborhoods in Puerto Vallarta that had been neglected, with limited infrastructure development compared to the more affluent tourist areas. The completion of these roads is seen by many as a significant step toward bridging this gap. “That is the justice we are achieving,” Mayor Munguía stated, “a justice where the inequality gap that had been widening…narrows every day.”

The new streets have been met with great enthusiasm from local residents. Linda Rodríguez, who has operated a family grocery business in the area for over 30 years, expressed her gratitude, noting that the improved roads will not only provide better access to nearby schools but also represent a tangible sign of progress.

Another resident, María Luisa de Santiago, emotionally thanked the government on behalf of her neighbors, saying, “Today, for the first time, we see the great effort and work our government is putting into this neighborhood.”

Councilman Christian Bravo Carbajal, a local resident himself, highlighted the collaborative effort between the community and the government, emphasizing that the project was a result of listening to the needs of the people. “We will always look out for Pitillal, because this is where we are from and we will always be here,” he said.

The new roads are a symbol of rebirth and progress for Lomas del Coapinole, showing that positive change is indeed reaching every part of Puerto Vallarta.
