Jalisco Sets New Record with 501 Gold Medals at National Olympics

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – The Jalisco delegation has once again cemented its place at the top of Mexican youth sports, capturing a record-breaking 501 gold medals at the 2026 National Olympics and securing its 25th consecutive overall championship.

In a landmark year that marked the 30th anniversary of the country’s premier youth sporting event, Jalisco athletes not only defended their title but also shattered their own previous record of 481 gold medals set in 2025. The milestone highlights the state’s continued dominance and commitment to developing young athletic talent.

The historic 500th gold medal was won in Tlaxcala during Trampoline Gymnastics competition. The mixed team of Patzari Olvera Ayala and Mario Guzmán Hernández claimed the national title in the 15-16 age division, reaching the coveted 500-gold mark. Moments later, teammates Aixa de León and Aldo Zúñiga delivered gold medal number 501 in the mixed team event for the 17-21 age category.

“We are thrilled and incredibly proud of this historic participation by the Jalisco team. We surpassed 500 gold medals, a historic and unprecedented achievement,” said Carlos González, Director of Competitive Sports at CODE Jalisco.

For the young athletes who helped make history, the achievement reflected years of dedication and hard work.

“We are very excited; we have worked hard to achieve this,” said Patzari Olvera.

Mario Guzmán also expressed gratitude for the support system behind the athletes’ success.

“Thank you all so much for supporting us in sports; we always strive for consistency. A big thank you to the coaches for always understanding us, supporting us, and being there for us through thick and thin,” he said.

Jalisco finished the National Olympics with an impressive total of 1,116 medals, including 501 gold, 320 silver, and 295 bronze. The medal count established another record for the state delegation and underscored its strength across a wide range of disciplines.

More than 2,300 athletes represented Jalisco in 54 sports contested across Puebla, Tlaxcala, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Yucatán, and Jalisco. Their performances were supported by coaches, trainers, medical staff, and a multidisciplinary team that contributed to the state’s overwhelming success.

“A huge thank you to all the parents who have helped us so much, the coaches, the multidisciplinary team, the entire CODE Jalisco family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We continue to make history,” González said.

The blue-and-yellow delegation captured championship titles in 24 sports and finished among the top three states in 39 of the 54 disciplines contested. Meanwhile, Nuevo León and Baja California claimed six and seven sport titles, respectively.

Jalisco’s championship-winning sports included triathlon, badminton, diving, modern pentathlon, cycling, archery, squash, shooting, skateboarding, inline hockey, speed skating, frontón, water polo, bowling, taekwondo, canoeing, golf, artistic swimming, charrería, table tennis, weightlifting, women’s artistic gymnastics, surfing, and trampoline gymnastics.

The accomplishment represents another milestone in a remarkable trajectory of growth. Jalisco first surpassed 300 gold medals in 2007, reached the 400-gold mark in 2023, and has now crossed the historic 500-gold threshold just three years later.

The state’s gold medal totals have steadily climbed in recent editions of the National Olympics: 389 in 2022, 430 in 2023, 478 in 2024, 481 in 2025, and now 501 in 2026.

With the latest title secured, Jalisco celebrates not only its 25th straight National Olympics championship but also its fifth consecutive year of setting a new personal record for gold medals won, further strengthening its reputation as Mexico’s leading force in youth sports.
