Jalisco’s Economy Thrives, Ranking 2nd in Job Creation

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco continues to be a leader in Mexico’s economic growth, securing the second-highest rank for new job creation in the country during the month of August. The state added 8,090 new formal positions, a significant increase driven by strong performance across several key sectors.

According to data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the services sector led the way by creating 3,789 new jobs, followed closely by trade with 3,666 new positions, and construction with 1,604 new jobs. These figures highlight a broad and healthy economic landscape that is benefiting workers across Jalisco.

“This is great news,” stated Cindy Blanco Ochoa, the Secretary of Economic Development for Jalisco. “We are talking about more than 8,000 people who now have access to a formal job with benefits like social security and retirement savings.”

Blanco Ochoa added that the state is actively working to create conditions that encourage companies to invest and expand, which in turn leads to more opportunities for local residents. The Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) is partnering with the private sector to develop strategies that ensure Jalisco remains a place of opportunity.

Looking at the broader picture for the year, Jalisco has created a total of 21,377 formal jobs from January through August. While Sinaloa topped the list for August with 10,094 new jobs, followed by Jalisco and Baja California, Jalisco still holds a strong fourth-place ranking nationally for overall job creation this year.

The state now has a total of 2,047,458 formally employed workers who enjoy benefits such as paid vacations and social security, which contribute to a higher quality of life.
