Southwest Airlines to Connect Las Vegas and Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Travelers planning a Mexican getaway have something new to celebrate, as Southwest Airlines is preparing to launch an exciting new direct flight connecting Las Vegas (LAS) to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) in Jalisco, Mexico. This new route underscores the airline’s continued commitment to expanding its international offerings and focusing on this popular Pacific coast destination.

As part of its strategic growth plan, Southwest Airlines recently unveiled eight new routes from key airports across the United States. The direct service from Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta is set to begin operations on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The addition of this route highlights Vallarta’s importance in Southwest’s network. Currently, the airline already provides service to this sunny destination from six North American cities: Denver, Houston, Orange County, Sacramento, Austin, and Phoenix. With the Las Vegas flight and the upcoming service from San Diego – which starts on March 5, 2026 – Southwest will offer a total of seven direct routes to Puerto Vallarta next year, ensuring travelers have abundant options.

The new Las Vegas route will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays. These flights will utilize Southwest’s reliable twin-engine Boeing 737 aircraft, which typically accommodate 162 passengers. This welcome addition will bring an estimated 1,296 extra seats per month to Puerto Vallarta, providing a significant boost for tourism and accessibility.

Adam Decaire, Southwest’s Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Network Operations Control, expressed confidence in the new offerings. “In designing our summer 2026 schedule, we examined industry trends and identified locations – like Las Vegas, Orlando, and San Diego – where we are able to provide Customers more choices when they’re booking travel,” he said in a statement. He also noted the airline’s focus on strengthening service in existing key markets to give customers better service than ever before.

While Southwest first began flying to Mexico in July 2014, following its acquisition of AirTran Airways, the launch of a flight from Las Vegas marks a new and important connection for the airline. This expansion ensures that more people can easily experience the beautiful beaches and rich culture of Puerto Vallarta.
