21st Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon and 5K Set for November 9

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Get ready to lace up your running shoes! The Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon and 5K Recreational Run return on Sunday, November 9, 2025, for their 21st edition, inviting runners from across Mexico and around the world to experience one of the country’s most scenic racing events.

This popular competition is a key fixture in the Mexican circuit of marathons and half-marathons, drawing high-caliber athletes from across Mexico and around the world every year. It’s an opportunity for runners of all skill levels to test their endurance against a beautiful backdrop.

Both races are open to men and women, with categories divided by age: Free (18–29), Master A (30–39), Master B (40–49), Master C (50–59), and Veteran D (60+). The top three finishers in each category will receive a trophy.

5K Route
The 5K will start and finish at the whale sculpture in Marina Vallarta, beginning at 6:40 am. Runners will head down Paseo de la Marina Avenue to the first roundabout before making a U-turn, returning to the whale sculpture, and continuing north on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue. The turnaround point will be at the ASA gas station before returning to the finish line.

21K Route
The Half Marathon will also start and finish at the whale sculpture in Marina Vallarta, with a start time of 6:30 am. The route begins on Paseo de la Marina Avenue, reaching the first roundabout before a U-turn back to the whale sculpture. From there, runners will proceed north along the center lanes of Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue, turning around near the military zone. They will then head south to the Sheraton Hotel for the second U-turn, continue through Marina Vallarta for another kilometer, make a U-turn before the airport bridge, and return to Marina Vallarta for the finish.

Registration and Details
Registration for either distance is $400 pesos per participant. This fee is inclusive and provides a commemorative shirt, a finisher medal, necessary hydration along the route, refreshments at the finish line, and a time chip for accurate results. To register, visit maratonvallarta.com.

Race kits will be distributed the day before the race, on Saturday, November 8, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Whale Sculpture in Marina Vallarta. Runners must remember to pick up their package during this time, as failure to do so will result in the loss of their registration fee. Please note that race officials will not be answering messages via social media or WhatsApp on the day of packet pickup.
