Puerto Vallarta, México – Mariachi Across Borders is a unique musical experience at Coco Cabaret that blends iconic hits from the United States – like My Way, Surfing USA, and Dancing Queen – all reimagined with traditional mariachi arrangements. The show also features beloved Mexican classics, creating a vibrant fusion of cultures.
Vocals are by Vallarta favorite, Noemi Plascencia. Originally from the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, she began her artistic career when she studied at the Conservatory of Music belonging to the Univesidad of Guadalajara. She also joined major musical show bands and performed with many other talented musicians. She moved to Puerto Vallarta Jalisco in 2005 to continue her artistic career as a singer.
Mariachi music’s history traces back to 18th-century western Mexico (Jalisco), evolving from rural folk traditions blending indigenous, Spanish, and African musical influences, using instruments like guitars, violins, and harps.
Mariachi gained national prominence post-Mexican Revolution, promoted through radio and film, and evolved from humble peasant wear to the iconic traje de charro (horseman’s suit). The addition of trumpets in the 20th century solidified the vibrant, signature sound known globally today, making it a powerful symbol of Mexican identity and culture.
