Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen its international tourism profile after receiving 26 nominations in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, including recognition in the prestigious “Best City” category.
Organized annually by Condé Nast Traveler, the awards are determined entirely by reader votes and are considered among the most influential honors in the global tourism industry. Travelers worldwide evaluate destinations, hotels, restaurants, airlines, and travel experiences based on their personal experiences. Voting remains open through June 30, with results scheduled for publication in October and later featured in the magazine’s November 2026 print edition.
The destination enters this year’s competition with strong momentum following an impressive performance in the 2025 awards, when Puerto Vallarta was named the No. 2 “Best Small City in the World” and the top-ranked city in Mexico. More than 750,000 readers participated in last year’s voting process, helping reinforce Puerto Vallarta’s international reputation heading into the 2026 edition.
This year, Puerto Vallarta earned nominations across several tourism categories, reflecting the destination’s broad appeal. Along with the “Best City” nomination, the destination also received recognition in the beach category through Playa Los Muertos, which ranked among readers’ favorite beaches worldwide in the publication’s 2025 list.
Puerto Vallarta’s culinary scene also remains in the international spotlight. Restaurants nominated this year include El Dorado, La Palapa, and Le Bistro, all recognized for delivering memorable dining experiences that combine quality cuisine with exceptional settings and service.
The city’s hospitality sector also secured significant recognition. Hotel nominees include Casa Kimberly, Hacienda San Ángel, Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta, Krystal Puerto Vallarta, Meliá Puerto Vallarta, and The Tryst Puerto Vallarta, among others.
In the resort category, nominees include Casa Velas, Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa, Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort, Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Sheraton Buganvilias Resort, and Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta, reflecting the diversity and quality of accommodations available throughout the destination.
