Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – During his Friday morning press conference, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the construction of the highway that will provide a shortcut between Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara will be completed by March 2024.
Mentioning that he had a good relationship with the governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, the president recalled that the state has had significant federal investment, and recalled the construction of the highway.
“The highways will be inaugurated in March of next year, that is, the federal investment has been substantial for Jalisco in public works,” said the president.
It is worth mentioning that the remaining section to complete the circuit is the one that goes from Compostela to Las Varas, from there connecting with the third stage that already goes to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
Once completed, this highway will allow travel from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta in 2 hours and 45 minutes. However, since its inception, it has overcome a series of complications and delays.
The second stage of the Guadalajara-Vallarta Shortcut is the one that would avoid going through the dangerous mountain curves on federal highway 200, and has been delayed due to problems with the rights of way, archaeological finds and logistical obstacles.
