Jalisco Becomes Mexico’s Second-Largest Exporting State

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco strengthened its position as one of Mexico’s leading export economies during the first quarter of 2026, recording $17.38 billion in international exports and ranking as the country’s second-largest exporting state, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The state’s export value reached $17.3775 billion between January and March, more than doubling the $8.412 billion reported during the same period in 2025. The 107 percent annual increase was six times higher than the national average and moved Jalisco up four positions in the national rankings.

Across Mexico, exports totaled $158.12 billion in the first quarter, representing annual growth of 17.9 percent. Jalisco accounted for 11 percent of the country’s total exports, reinforcing its position as the nation’s top exporting state outside the border region and a major contributor to Mexico’s foreign trade.

The electronics industry continued to drive Jalisco’s export success. Manufacturing of computer, communication, measurement, and other electronic equipment generated $13.73 billion in exports, representing 79 percent of the state’s total export value.

The strong performance reflects Jalisco’s reputation as Mexico’s technology hub, supported by a well-established ecosystem that combines highly skilled talent, semiconductor design, and advanced electronics manufacturing.

“We are proud that Jalisco is the second most dynamic state in exports nationwide,” said Cindy Blanco Ochoa, Secretary of Economic Development (SEDECO). “Although most of our exports are concentrated in the electronics industry and its components, sectors such as beverages continue to grow, with an increase of 17 percent.”

Blanco added that SEDECO is preparing new initiatives to expand export opportunities in additional strategic industries across the state. The programs, to be announced soon, are designed to strengthen the State of Jalisco’s presence in international markets and diversify its export portfolio.

The Jalisco government, through SEDECO, reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the state’s competitiveness, supporting local companies in expanding internationally, and creating the conditions needed for Jalisco to remain one of Mexico’s strongest export engines.
