Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – When it comes to nutrition, most of us have heard the advice: eat more antioxidants, drink plenty of water, and enjoy a balanced diet. But in her latest humorous column, Mimi Bomba takes a refreshingly lighthearted approach, asking the questions many of us have secretly wondered about before arriving at a deliciously unconventional recipe for good health.
Execellent Nutritional Tips From Mimi Bomba
Consume as many antioxidants as possible. That is what I try to do. Then, I asked myself, “What is an antioxidant, and why is it against oxidants? And what is an oxidant anyway?
So I looked it up. This is what Ms. Google says: “An antioxidant is a molecule that neutralizes harmful free radicals in the body, helping to protect cells from damage and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.”
Okay. So what is a radical, and why is it free? And how do the antioxidants find them if they’re running around free? I guess I have to trust them though, since they help protect cells from damage. Allegedly.
Another thing I try to do is drink a lot of water so I don’t get dehydrated. I have a question: Since I have to find a bathroom every five minutes, it seems that water doesn’t stay in my body for more than five minutes, so how am I being hydrated? I’m hydrated for five minutes at a time? Is that it?
So I think there are better ways to keep from being dehydrated. Stay with me.
Wine has Vitamin C from grapes – again, antioxidants. Beer has grain, yeast, and some other stuff. Margaritas have Vitamin C, too, and salt to keep us hydrated, and Tequila for exercise dancing on tables. See where I’m going here?
Aguacates are a nearly complete food, and I eat a lot of them. (Mashed up, using Totopos as a delivery system.) Question: Once the avocado becomes guacamole, is it still considered “nearly complete” or is it now complete? Completely delicious, that’s for sure!
Tacos contain all of the food groups: Meat, Dairy (if you use queso like Gringos do), Fruit (tomato is actually a fruit, not a vegetable), Grain (tortillas), and Vegetables (lettuce, cebolla if you like). Plus, I am sure there are a lot of antioxidants sprinkled throughout, to keep those pesky radicals caged up. Whatever they are…
So my advice to you, Mis Amigas y Amigos, Gordas y Gordos is:
The most nutritional meal is: Tacos with beer, wine, or margaritas. Makes perfect sense to me!

Come bien!
