Puerto Vallarta’s municipal law enforcement team is taking a major step forward in community protection with the addition of five smart patrol vehicles. Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro handed over the specialized units as part of a sweeping, state-funded initiative to modernize security infrastructure across the region.
This delivery is part of a larger state distribution of 236 patrol vehicles distributed among 82 municipalities in Jalisco. The expansion also includes new units dedicated to the State Attorney General’s Office and the State Executive Commission for Victim Assistance.
Within the North Coast and Western Sierra regions, a total of 11 patrol vehicles were allocated. Puerto Vallarta received the largest share in the area with its five units, while Tomatlán received three, and Cabo Corrientes, San Sebastián del Oeste, and Talpa de Allende each received one.
Governor Lemus highlighted that the allocation of these resources was guided strictly by community needs and population size. He emphasized that the state took a collaborative approach, prioritizing the well-being of citizens across every region without any political bias.
The new additions consist of versatile, all-terrain pickup trucks uniquely adapted for reliable community surveillance. This ensures that officers can easily navigate and serve both bustling urban neighborhoods and more remote rural landscapes.
These trucks introduce impressive modern tools to the local force, including mobile intelligence systems, reliable internet connectivity via integrated Starlink antennas, and responsive touchscreens. Officers on duty gain real-time access to platforms that provide information on detainees, crime rates and heat maps, enabling faster response times and well-informed decisions during emergency situations.
Funding for this vehicle modernization project reached a total of 192,224,584 pesos. The financial resources were drawn from a combination of the Fund for Contributions to Public Security, the Fund for Strengthening Public Security Institutions, and direct financial contributions from the Jalisco state government.
By integrating these five highly advanced units into daily operations, Puerto Vallarta significantly strengthens its ability to protect the community and prevent crime. Local leadership views this upgrade as an excellent opportunity to ensure a secure, welcoming environment, preserving the peaceful atmosphere that local residents enjoy and that continues to draw visitors to this popular beach vacation destination.
