Puerto Vallarta Airport Surpasses 3 Million Passengers in 2025

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Traffic at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport continues to soar, surpassing 3.2 million passengers in just the first five months of 2025. This marks a 1.4% increase over the same period last year, showing steady growth fueled by strong domestic travel.

According to preliminary data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), the airport served 514,300 passengers in May – up slightly from 509,800 in May 2024. While the monthly increase was a modest 0.9%, the consistent rise in domestic tourism has kept numbers on an upward trend despite a slowdown in international traffic.

Domestic travel to Puerto Vallarta remains a strong driver of growth. In May alone, 278,200 passengers arrived on domestic flights, up 11.2 percent from the previous year. Over the first five months of 2025, national passengers totaled 1,210,200 – an impressive 14.4 percent increase from 2024.

International travel, however, continues to dip. In May, the airport saw 236,100 international passengers, down 9.1% compared to 259,600 last year. So far this year, international arrivals have totaled 2,084,300, a 4.8% decrease from the same period in 2024.

Even with seasonal slowdowns and shifting travel patterns, Puerto Vallarta International Airport is on track to serve more than 4 million passengers in 2025, a promising sign of continued momentum in domestic tourism and the region’s overall appeal.
