Puerto Vallarta Receives 31 New Public Transit Buses

Puerto Vallarta took a step forward in improving public transportation with the delivery of 31 new air-conditioned buses, following a coordinated effort between municipal and state leaders. Mayor Luis Munguía thanked Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro for fulfilling a key commitment that aims to shorten travel times and improve daily commutes for thousands of residents.

The new fleet reflects a modern commitment to environmental sustainability, consisting of 10 electric buses, 15 powered by natural gas, and six diesel vehicles. Beyond their eco-friendly engines, these units are designed with passenger comfort and safety in mind. All are equipped with air conditioning, video surveillance, and modern fare collection systems. The electric models take inclusivity a step further by offering universal accessibility features to ensure all citizens can travel with ease.

During the handover at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, Mayor Munguía highlighted the importance of teamwork in advancing a cleaner, more efficient transportation model. He noted that the city is helping lead a new approach to urban mobility by incorporating energy-efficient technologies that benefit both residents and the environment. Governor Lemus echoed this sentiment, praising the Mayor’s persistence in securing the necessary infrastructure and resources to improve the city’s quality of life.

The momentum for these improvements is expected to continue well into the coming year. During the handover ceremony, Governor Lemus announced that an additional 65 buses are scheduled for delivery in March 2026. This future expansion is part of a larger electromobility project currently under development for the Medina Ascencio Avenue corridor, ensuring that the city’s growth remains paired with sophisticated, high-quality public services.

Both officials agreed that collaboration between municipal and state governments has been essential in advancing projects that improve mobility and quality of life for Vallarta’s residents.
