Puerto Vallarta Reinforces Police Officers’ Safety and Wellbeing

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In an effort to improve the safety of police officers, the Puerto Vallarta Citizen Security station has received 440 ballistic vests and 700 sets of handcuffs. This effort was managed by Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra to guarantee that each officer has the necessary tools to carry out their work safely.

The new equipment includes level III-A bulletproof vests with level IV plates, which offer superior protection against high-caliber rounds, up to .44 Magnum, and come with a 4-year warranty. The Smith & Wesson stainless steel handcuffs were provided to improve durability and aid in arrests.

In addition to the new equipment, the Citizen Security Police Station prioritizes officer well-being through mandatory toxicological tests conducted by an external company. These tests ensure that officers are free of substances like marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, and opiates, promoting professionalism and fitness for duty.

Furthermore, in collaboration with an ophthalmological company, the station has organized free eye exams for all officers. These exams not only provide visual health certificates but also offer special support for acquiring prescription glasses, if necessary.

Commissioner Flores Parra emphasized that these improvements are critical for both officer safety and community well-being. He underscored the importance of a well-equipped and healthy police force in maintaining a safe environment.
