Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico – As part of a major push to enhance regional travel, Nayarit Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero has unveiled Riviera Nayarit Connects with the World, a transportation initiative that will link the new Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport with key beach destinations across the state.
A key feature of this initiative is the Riviera Nayarit Express, a new bus and sprinter transfer service designed to provide direct, efficient, and economical transportation from the airport to popular tourist areas. This service will connect travelers with favorite beach locations such as San Blas, Rincón de Guayabitos, Sayulita, San Francisco, Punta Mita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, and Nuevo Nayarit.
The Riviera Nayarit Express will operate in close coordination with the airport and benefit from the upcoming completion of major road projects, including the Jala-Vallarta and Tepic-Compostela highways, both scheduled to open later this year.
Javier García Bejos, president of Aeropuertos Mexicanos, described the system as affordable, reliable, and designed to make coastal tourism more accessible. “For many reasons, the Riviera Nayarit will be connected to the world starting at the end of this year,” he said.
Humberto Suárez Castillo, coordinator of the Airports and Auxiliary Services business units, added that these transfers will be a direct airport service, offering a seamless experience for arriving passengers. He also confirmed that samples of the vehicles to be used are already available, indicating readiness for the service launch.
Beyond enhanced connectivity, Nayarit is also focusing on developing its unique local appeal through the One Destination, One Thousand Experiences strategy. This program aims to promote 33 micro-destinations across the state, providing them with distinct identities, unified imagery, and specialized tourism training. A significant aspect of this initiative is strengthening community participation and honoring the rich heritage of Indigenous peoples.
The Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport is currently 70% complete, with a total investment of 2.733 billion pesos, according to Tania Carro, Undersecretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation. Governor Navarro confirmed that the airport’s new control tower will be operational by March 2026, marking another step forward in the region’s growing tourism network.
These combined efforts are set to create an even more inviting and accessible experience for visitors to the beautiful Riviera Nayarit.
