San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico – Starting next year, international cruise ships are expected to arrive at the port of San Blas, in the Riviera Nayarit, as confirmed by the State Secretary of Tourism, Juan Enrique Suárez, and the Mayor of that municipality, José Antonio Barajaz.
According to information briefly revealed to the press, the two shipping lines that have confirmed interest in docking their ships in San Blas are Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises.
“We are excited to announce the arrival of international cruise ships to San Blas. I recently met with the CEO of the Royal Caribbean Group and Celebrity Cruises, it will start with ships that can accommodate up to 500 passengers, and the first cruise is expected to be received in 2024,” said the Secretary.
It is not clear how the huge ships, whose average minimum capacity is about 1,500 travelers, would have to adapt their itineraries and travel packages to add San Blas to their Mexican Pacific route, which includes port calls in Cabo San Lucas or Ensenada, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.
However, both the Secretary of Tourism and the Mayor of San Blas are optimistic and enthusiastic about this proposition, highlighting the benefits that it will bring in terms of employment, investment and tourism promotion.
This new initiative is expected to boost tourism in Nayarit, attracting international visitors and allowing San Blas to position itself as a renowned tourist destination. The government and local authorities are working hard to guarantee the infrastructure and services necessary to successfully receive cruise ships, providing a unique experience for tourists and contributing to the economic growth of the region.
