Puerto Vallarta Airport Shows Strong Growth in First Half of 2025

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta International Airport continues to demonstrate its popularity as a key travel destination, welcoming over 3.8 million passengers in the first half of 2025. This marks a positive increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year, according to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP).

While June saw a slight dip in overall passenger numbers – a minimal 0.1% decrease compared to June 2024, with 511,100 passengers arriving during what is typically a slower travel period – the airport’s year-to-date performance remains strong. This minor adjustment in June contrasts with the broader positive trend observed across GAP’s 12 Mexican airports, which collectively experienced a 0.7% increase in passenger traffic for the month.

A closer look at the numbers reveals encouraging trends within domestic travel. In June, Puerto Vallarta welcomed 273,800 domestic passengers, a healthy 5.5% increase over June 2024. This growth further propelled the first half of the year’s domestic passenger count to an impressive 1,484,000, representing a significant 12.6% rise from the previous year. This indicates a growing interest in domestic tourism to Puerto Vallarta, particularly notable as June often sees more domestic arrivals than international.

While international passenger numbers in June saw a 5.8% decrease compared to the previous year, settling at 237,300, the overall picture for Puerto Vallarta remains positive. The airport continues to be a crucial gateway for travelers, and its consistent performance in a competitive market underscores its enduring appeal.

Notably, just a year ago, Puerto Vallarta’s terminal stood out among major national airports for maintaining strong figures, and while other GAP airports like Guadalajara, Tijuana, Los Cabos, Guanajuato, and Hermosillo are now also showing positive growth, Puerto Vallarta’s steady progress continues to be a testament to its draw.
