Amapas Neighborhood Association Steps Up for Post-Storm Clean-Up

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Amapas Neighborhood Association (ANA) is rallying its community for its monthly clean-up effort, scheduled this Saturday, October 11, at 9 am. This month’s event is particularly vital as residents focus on restoring the lower Amapas area following recent high waves generated by Hurricane Priscilla. Although Puerto Vallarta avoided a direct hit from the storm, the coastline experienced significant surf that impacted beachfront businesses.

Known as the Second Saturday Clean-Up, the monthly initiative is a consistent and effective way for residents, visitors, and volunteers to help maintain the beauty and safety of their neighborhood. ANA is channeling this collective spirit to address immediate needs in the lower part of Amapas, ensuring streets and public spaces are quickly returned to their best condition.

More than simply picking up debris, the clean-up days serve as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds. People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate. This inclusive event is a chance to meet neighbors, exchange stories, and cultivate a stronger, more connected local identity. Whether long-time residents or new arrivals, volunteers find this a rewarding way to get involved and feel part of a positive, collective endeavor.

The power of collaboration is evident in the results. Small, coordinated actions by volunteers lead to significant improvements, creating cleaner streets, clearer sidewalks, and well-maintained green spaces that enhance the quality of life for all in Amapas. Furthermore, these regular clean-ups play an important role in protecting the local environment and reducing the impact of waste on nearby wildlife. Ultimately, these recurring events are a powerful demonstration of shared community pride.

For those who are in the area and ready to contribute, the ANA welcomes all helping hands. Volunteers are asked to commit just two hours of their time. The association will provide all necessary supplies.

Those planning to participate are encouraged to email volunteer(at)amapaspv.com to coordinate participation. Every person who shows up makes a meaningful difference in the effort to keep Amapas beautiful and welcoming.

The Amapas Neighborhood Association is the official association of residents and business owners in the Colonia Amapas area of Puerto Vallarta. A volunteer and not-for-profit association with over 350 members, the ANA was founded in 2002 to improve the quality of life in Amapas. They work to keep our neighborhood safe, beautiful, desirable and welcoming to tourists and residents from all countries and walks of life. ANA is also the official “Junta Vecinal” or neighborhood council for Amapas, the legal representative of the neighborhood to the city government. Learn more at AmapasPV.com.
